Vincent Van Gogh Terrace At Night WIP

This is an oil painting 9 x 12 inch on primed hard board. 

Vincent Van Gogh battled with struggles of mental illness and during his life he produced various pieces of post impressionistic paintings. One of the most known paintings is "Starry night". He enjoyed painting sky with stars in it because he was searching for faith. Terrace At Night also had a similar sky.

This is a work in progress of doing a likeness of this painting. Although I have mainly focused on creating realistic works of art; I remembered seeing a high school art instructor paint this. I was captivated by the post impressionistic style but never wanted to try it. However from the pit of my memory I woke up one night and remembered this painting in particular and I felt as though I was compelled to paint a reproduction of it because I can relate to van Gogh with having a mis-understood and hard to diagnose mental illness. Although he has died by his own hand; that is not where I want to end up. So this painting will be made with the road to recovery in mind and a successful future.
